Helios: Sample Capillary Assembly: Nebulizer Sample Inlet End
Before beginning, remove the following from the kit:
- Yellow front ferrule
- Stainless steel back ferrule
- 1/16 inch nut
- Blue or clear sleeve
→ Step 01:
Insert the other end of the partially assembled sample capillary into the second sleeve.
→ Step 02:
Push the sleeve containing the sample capillary through the 1/16 inch nut. Leave 1.25 inches of sample capillary tubing on the other side of the sleeve.
→ Step 03:
Place the stainless steel back ferrule over the sleeve containing the sample capillary, tapered end facing out.
→ Step 04:
Place the yellow back ferrule over the sleeve containing the sample capillary with the flat side facing out.
*NOTE: The sleeve should be slightly out of the yellow front ferrule.
→ Step 05:
Thread the capillary through the orifice of the union. Tighten the 1/16 inch nut into the union.
→ Step 06:
Unscrew the 1/16 inch nut to ensure that the sample capillary fits tightly and the edge of the yellow back ferrule and sleeve are flush. The sample capillary should not slide when correctly assembled.
→ Step 07:
Thread the sample capillary back through the union. Tighten the 1/16 inch nut.
→ Step 08:
Hold on to the union and thread the sample capillary tubing into the nebulizer sample inlet. Push the end of the sample inlet into the 1/8 inch nut and union until it clicks, forming a seal between the yellow front ferrule and the end of the sample inlet. The sample capillary tubing should reach the tapered portion of the glass capillary inside the nebulizer.
Tighten the 1/8 inch nut until it is finger-tight.
*NOTE: If the sample capillary tubing bends at the tapered portion of the glass capillary, the tubing is too long. Adjust the length of the sample tubing.
→ Step 09:
Connect the heater bulkhead end of the sample capillary assembly to the grounding nut on the heater bulkhead. Connect the nebulizer gas line to the nebulizer gas port on the nebulizer. Insert the nebulizer into the nebulizer adapter port and tighten to finger tight.
